Now that we have a mostly complete bike the testing and my development on it has kicked into full swing. With only a month and a half until the bike goes over to IOM for the Manx GP testing and development is urgent. We presented at Mallala for the Phoenix club and SA state title meeting on 4th and 5th of June. Initially in Saturday practice we were getting the ergonomics right. Adjusting bars, levers and footrests to suit. Next was me trying to get the hang of riding a bike that just feels tiny compared to my S1000RR. First ride on the 650. Thanks to Russell Tovey for taking a pic. All knees and elbows, feeling very awkward to begin with. The Saturday practice I was struggling to ride the bike like I needed to. Still trying to ride it like a thou. Some deep contemplation Saturday night left me with some ideas for Sunday. However Sunday brought torrential rain and without wanting to risk a crash I missed the first race. Fortunately the afternoon cleared up and I got some good laps in race 2 and 3. Testing at Mac Park. With time short Les Rowe organised with the Mount Gambier Motorcycle club a test day. We were able to sort out the suspension and chassis geometry significantly and with a little coaching from Darren Trotter I was able to get down to 1:15.2 Still not as quick as Royce but for me I improved my technique immeasurably. The exciting nature of the track really brought out the limitations of the set up we had and without it the bike would have been a handful at IOM. We traveled from Mac Park straight to Philip Island for another day of testing. The bike performed brilliantly getting well over 230kph down the straight and holding corner speed high enough that I could go round the outside of some of the 600's and 1000's.

I think you need a matching helmet now.

Yes definitely will. The visor is a nightmare to change. A helmet swap in the pit will be necessary.
