One of the most important elements of the competition is the motorcycle. Brian Rosser has been building fast 2 valve Ducati's for some years. I have a keen interest in how this is done so I have been as involved in the build as I could. The basis of the 650 Manx bike is a crashed 659 purchased for the princely sum of $700. But what transpired over the following months was a complete transformation. The frame is modified to remove unnecessary components, to fit the triumph 675 fairing, custom air box, intake, dash, battery box, ECU and so on. We spent days grinding and welding.
The fairing originally meant for a triumph 675 had to be modified to fit. This involved cutting off the parts that didn't fit and glassing in new sections. Brian uses wax sheets to create the mould.
The next task was to make a wiring loom. We did this from scratch. Took lengths of cable laid them out and attached pins, plugs etc to said wires. It was long and arduous. But the final result looks like it came off the factory floor. Maybe better.
